THE FRAME
When you stop and pause that's when inspiration finds you.
The last email I received before I started my 2021 summer vacation was an update on the newest tools added to the primary software I use, Rhino Jewel. I didn’t realize the effect it would have on me at that moment but it catapulted me into a dreamland during those next two weeks of ‘relaxation’. Upon my return I gave myself permission to explore this fantasy but with strict parameters as I did have other priorities to tend to. Treating it like a school assignment with a tight deadline, I had a week to research, explore, and execute on three different styles. The intention was for it to provide me insight as to what direction I would pursue moving forward.
Below is a timeline as to where my mind began and moved to during exploration that ultimately left me feeling very inspired.

RESEARCH
A glimpse into the history of three iconic styles that have heavily influenced the eyewear category.
MEASUREMENTS
To accurately execute on said designs I had to educate myself on the standard sizes of frames; particularly eye size, bridge, and temple length.
THE SAMPLES
Taking cues from their heritage, CAD renderings to the proper scale of my initial ideation of the big three, including a dip into branding.
PALETTE
Materials and colors are the two key ingredients of a frame. Being a designer who primarily works in precious metals, offering a metal frame was a no brainer. However, being a collector of sunglasses, an acetate frame was also calling.
SPECTACLES
The beauty of the lens is that it can come in any color of the rainbow but most importantly it can provide clear vision. I am surrounded by those who have prescription so exploring the subject outside of vanity was a must.
