THE CHAIN
More often than not multiple pieces are designed and created when executing client work submitted through the refinery category. This client in particular had 7 pieces delivered upon completion, gifted amongst 4 individuals. A stand out piece from this body of work was the creation that came to life through the upcycling of this 40 year old, 18kt yellow gold, mesh chain. There was a lot of it as it was a necklace bracelet set, however, it was in rather poor condition and was falling apart. So we upcycled some and refined the rest.
The end result was an 18kt, yellow gold, showstopper of a piece. Truly one of a kind and an heirloom worth passing down.

The PITCH
Out of the four individuals included in this experience only one was interested in using said chain, leaning towards a ring. Not being completely closed off, she was open to seeing other ideas when it came to the initial pitch. An earring, a ring, and a locket all incorporating the chain was proposed as directions to explore. However, moving forward the ring was the final pick for exploring in more detail.
Option #1: Hoop earring
Option #2: Band ring
Option #3: Locket
FINAL REVISION
After two more revisions the design below was settled on for production.
construction
3D printed and cast in 18kt yellow gold, the frame of this ring was truly a work of art in itself. The chain, set inlaid, stayed true to its natural curved form.
